Triumph T100 - Yuasa Battery Install

Installing the Yuasa YTX12 battery to the 2019 Triumph Bonneville T100 Black was a quick and easy job. With basic hand tools we swapped out the old dead battery for the new one in under an hour.

Tools:

  • Pliers
  • Hex Sockets
  • Ratchet and Extension
  • Insulating Tape

1. Remove the seat, you will see the battery. Before commencing work, remove the battery terminals and ensure they do not come into contact with the frame. Wrap some insulating tape around the terminals to be safe.

2. Behind the battery towards the rear of the bike, you will see the ECU cover. Find the hex bolt located on the right hand side of the plastic ECU case, use the H socket tool to remove the hex bolt on the right hand side.

3. Once the hex bolt is removed, carefully remove the ECU and slide the levers back on the electrical plugs by pushing down on the tabs. Place the ECU in a safe place.

4. Use a set of pliers to remove the battery strap and ancillaries.

5. Slide the battery out from the housing.

6. Place the new battery into the housing.

7. Re-wire the terminals, replace the battery strap and ECU.

8. Don't forget the hex bolt that holds the ECU in place.

You're good to go! You may want to install a battery maintenance charger to look after your new battery.
