Triumph T100 - Oil Change

Changing the oil on the Triumph T100 Liquid Cooled 865cc is a simple process, made easier by reading this short guide, and using the right tools.

To carry out the Triumph T100 oil change you will need:
  • 3/4 Ratchet
  • 3/4 Short extension
  • 8mm hex
  • Triumph oil filter tool
  • Funnel
  • Oil (4L)
  • Sump plug washer
  • Scissor jack
  • Drain pan
  • Torque wrench

1. Run the bike at idle speed for 5 mins, allow to cool for 3 mins.

2. Use the Triumph Oil Filter tool and 3/4 ratchet to loosen the oil filter ever so slightly before you go any further, just to check that it will actually loosen before you drop the oil.

3. All being well, put the bike on the scissor jack so it's level, make sure there is enough room to get the drain pan underneath the bike, between the rear wheel and the scissor jack.

4. Use the 8mm hex and 3/4 ratchet to loosen the sump plug and drop the oil. Use the Triumph Oil Filter tool and 3/4 ratchet to loosen and remove the existing oil filter. Remove the oil filler cap and wait for the oil to drain out.

5. Take the new oil filter, dip your finger in the new oil and run around the seal of the new filter. Screw the new filter to the housing and torque to 25 NM.

6. Replace the crush washer on the sump plug. Re-fit the sump plug and tighten to 10NM.

7. Place the funnel in the oil filler cap, proceed to top up the oil until its visible on the gauge. Do not overfill.

8. Once the oil level is within tolerance on the gauge, replace the oil filler cap and start the bike, just to circulate the oil, no more than 10 secs.

9. Let the oil settle and proceed to top back up to the oil filler line. Oil service complete!
