Triumph T100 - Motone sump guard install

As with all Motone parts, the Motone sump guard installation was very simple and only required a few hand tools.

We would recommend using a motorcycle jack to install the Motone sump guard, as part of the install requires two bolts to be removed from the side stand bracket.

Tools:

  • Allen key 4mm
  • Allen key 8mm
  • Motorcycle jack stand
  • Threadlock

1. Remove the bolts from the left side frame rail as shown below.

2. Remove the bracket from the Motone sump guard and install using the new allen head bolts supplied in the kit. I used a dab of threadlock just to stop the bolts from vibrating loose over time.

3. Offer up the sump guard to the bottom of the bike, to check fitment alignment. You might have to slacken off the other other bracket on the right hand rear fixing to get the correct alignment. Then bolt  the rear in place, again, I used a bit of threadlock to stop the bolts vibrating loose over time.

4. Followed by the front sump guard fixings on both sides. Threadlock these too.

5. Stand back and admire your work!

NB. If your soon to carry out a service on the bike it's a good idea to drain the oil and replace the filter, prior to fitting the sump guard, as you will have to remove it to carry out the oil service.
