Triumph T100 - Motone Exhaust Tip Install
Installing the Motone Exhaust Tips to the 2019 Triumph Bonneville T100 Black was a quick and easy job. Allow a couple of hours from start to finish.
Tools:
- Allen key 6mm
- Socket wrench + extension
- Pliers
- Flat head screwdriver
- Copper Grease
- Motorcycle scissor jack
- Box + bubblewrap for original silencers
1. Jack up the motorcycle on level ground.
2. Remove the passenger footpegs. To do this, remove the e-clips and using a pair pliers and pull the pins out from the adjacent side. (Start with one side at a time).
3. Be careful as there is a ball bearing that will more than likely fall out. Make a mental note of how the assembly goes together at this point, to avoid headscratching when it comes to refitment.
4. The next step is to use the 6mm hex and 12mm spanner to remove the bolt holding the existing silencer bracket. It's a good idea to support the silencer at this point, as once the bolt is removed excess strain will be added.
4. On the left hand side, the silencer is secured using an additional bracket, use a 12mm socket and a 12mm spanner to remove the bolt. (Store this bolt & spacer with the existing silencers as it will not be needed). NB. This bracket/bolt is only present on one side of the T100, as the exhaust is secured in a slightly differently on the right hand side of the motorcycle.
5. Slacken the exhaust clamps currently holding the silencers use a 6mm hex, bolt shown below. Gently pry the silencers away using very small movements. Be very careful as you don't want to damage the existing silencer or the bike itself.
6. Open up the Motone Exhaust Tip box, take one of the sleeves and slide it over the end of the exhaust.
7. Slide the smaller jubilee clip over the end and proceed to tighten using a flat head screwdriver.
8. Slide the Exhaust tip over the end of the sleeve, set a suitable clearance gap between the end of the existing exhaust pipe and the tip, secure using the allen key supplied in the kit - remember to tighten both grub screws on the exhaust tip so the tip is secure.
9. Repeat steps 1-8 for the right hand side - finished!
The result, well, we weren't dissapointed, not only do they look great, but you get a nice throaty rumble that transforms the bike, even with the cat still in place - we would highly recommend!
