Installing the K&N Air Filter Triumph Bonneville T100 Edition:

Triumph Bonneville T100 side panel removal

To install the K&N Air Filter to the Triumph T100, the first step is to remove the side pods from the motorcycle. Gently pry the side pods using your hands - they are fixed in 3 places. We use rubber matting on the floor whilst working on the bike in case we drop anything that could be easily scratched.

Remove the hose clips from the oil breather assembly on the left hand side of the bike. We used a pair of water pump pliers to move the hose clips from the collar back along the hose, allowing the hose assembly to be removed from the union.

Post removing the hoses from the unions, remove the T15 torx screw holding the oil breather hose assembly bracket, remove the assembly (including the filter) from the bike and store in a safe place, ready for re-fitment later. Careful as not to allow any dirt ingress.

Remove the four T15 Torx screws from the air filter housing and carefully remove the plastic retaining flap from the motorcycle, be careful not to get the retaining flap dirty as this forms part of the air box. We don't want any dirt getting inside the air box as this could cause damage.

You will now have visibility of the existing filter. To remove the existing filter, slide the filter inside the retaining cassette towards the front of the motorcycle. It can be a little tricky to remove; we used a small flat blade screwdriver to encourage the filter to release - be very gentle as not to scratch anything.

Adding grease to K&N air filter

Apply a thin layer of grease as per the manufacturers instructions, prior to Installing the K&N Air Filter Triumph Bonneville T100. This is to ensure an air tight seal is present within the air box. Smudge the grease with your finger to ensure it is spread evenly - clean hands.

Refit the cassette with the new K&N Air filter installed, slide the cassette back into the previous position and ensure a snug fit. Wipe away any excess grease from the air box prior to re-installing the plastic retaining flap and the four T15 Torx Screws.

Remember to install the oil breather T15 Torx screw attached to the oil breather bracket, before re-assembling the oil breather assembly and hose clips. (Reverse of previous steps).

Refit the side pods to both sides of the motorcycle ensuring that the lugs have seated into the rubber grommets on the frame with a positive fitment, give a quick tug just to check all three lugs per side are seated correctly - we don't want these falling off as they are easily scratched.
